CMC Markets To Launch Prop Trading Platform on 1 OCT Amid Legal & Regulatory Concerns
Abstract:CMC Markets is moving closer to entering the proprietary trading market, with its new CMC Markets Funded programme scheduled to open to the public on 1 October 2026.

CMC Markets is moving closer to entering the proprietary trading market, with its new CMC Markets Funded programme scheduled to open to the public on 1 October 2026.
The launch marks a significant expansion for the London listed brokerage, but the structure behind the programme is attracting attention because the entity operating the service is legally separate from the CMC Markets group.
CMC Markets Funded has replaced its previous coming soon page with a countdown to the October launch and an early access registration process. The programme is described as a simulated trading evaluation service, meaning participants will not be trading with live capital supplied by the company. Instead, traders will be assessed according to simulated trading performance, with potential payouts structured as contractual rewards.
The legal arrangements provide an important distinction for customers considering the programme. Documents published on the CMC Markets Funded website identify Dubai based True North Tech L.L.C FZ as the operator and contractual counterparty. The company is understood to run the programme under a Marketing Services Agreement with CMC Markets Singapore Pte. Ltd.
CMC Singapore is described as the exclusive financial services and online brokerage partner for the programme. Its responsibilities include areas such as branding, marketing, data, governance and operational support.
However, the legal terms make clear that CMC Singapore is not the operator or guarantor of CMC Markets Funded. True North Tech is responsible for customer fees, participant accounts, rewards and refunds. The terms also state that the programme is not owned or controlled by CMC Markets Singapore, CMC Markets plc or another entity within the CMC group.
That distinction could become an important consideration for traders because the regulatory status attached to CMC Singapore does not automatically extend to the funded trading programme.
The technology supporting the service has also raised questions. Technical records indicate that the trading subdomain associated with CMC Markets Funded points towards infrastructure operated through MatchTrader. The programme's published terms also refer to MatchTrader in connection with transaction histories, oversight and risk monitoring.
For Malaysian traders, the launch could draw attention because CMC Markets has an established presence in the broader Asia Pacific trading industry and Malaysian retail traders frequently follow developments involving major international foreign exchange and CFD brokers. However, Malaysian traders considering the programme would need to distinguish between CMC Markets' regulated brokerage operations and the separate contractual structure of CMC Markets Funded, particularly when assessing applicable protections, counterparties, fees and payout arrangements.
